November 2010 - Regina Transit on the Road: The City of Regina selected BEA Transit Solutions for the implementation of a contactless, smart card-based, automatic fare collection system. BEA proceeded with the installation onboard 109 conventional buses (the complete Smart Farebox) and 35 specialized transit (Paratransit) minibuses (Portable Handheld Readers).

The Regina system includes a Customer Service Centre installation and 25 Attended Add Value Machines. Regina is now issuing 40,000 reloadable and 200,000 disposable smart cards.

The new Fare Collection System has been widely accepted by people of Regina and is now being operated by the City with great success. The system went into revenue on November 1st, 2010.

April 2009 – Saskatoon selects BEA: After a competitive tender process, BEA Transit Solutions was awarded a contract from the City of Saskatoon in Saskatchewan Canada, for the supply, installation and commissioning of a smart card fare collection system for a fleet of 135 conventional and 21 specialized transit buses.

The BEA solution will enable passengers to pay their fares by smart card with period passes, tickets and e-purse as well as pay for other municipal services using a separate, municipal e-purse. Ten thousand cards are expected to be distributed initially. Passengers will be able to reload value onto their smart card by telephone, Internet, at unattended add value machines, as well as Saskatoon Customer Service Centre. The system went into full revenue service in January 2010.

August 2008 - Kingston Transit goes live: BEA Transit Solutions commissioned the new Automatic Fare Collection system designed and manufactured for Kingston Transit. The new system involves the installation of BEA’s Smart Farebox in all of the Kingston Transit buses, together with two customer service centre locations and a number of attended add value machines deployed at third party merchants.

December 2007 - Brantford Transit launches first complete BEA system in North America: Brantford Transit launched its new contactless based Automatic Fare Collection system designed and built by BEA Transit Solutions into revenue service in December 2007. Based on BEA’s Smart Farebox, the system is the first implementation in North America of the complete BEA Smart Farebox solution. The Smart Farebox is capable of printing and scanning bar-coded transfers, together with coins and smart cards.

December 2006– The Metrobus M-Card first to go live: - On December 1, 2006 the Automatic Fare System installed by BEA Transit Solutions for the St. John's Transportation Commission (Metrobus) in St. John's, Newfoundland started revenue service.

Metrobus elected to install smart card validators onboard its buses in conjunction with its existing fareboxes. The smart card units allowed Metrobus to create an innovative loyalty rewards program to attract ridership.

August 2006 – New contract from SITEUR: Beginning with an initial contract from SITEUR in 2002 to retrofit some of the existing fare gates on the Guadalajara Light Rail Transit system to accept contactless smart cards, Grupo BEA has since won successive contracts:

· To equip the balance of the LRT fare gates;

· To provide unattended add-value machines for the entire LRT system;

· To equip the Bus Rapid Transit system with cash/smart card fareboxes; and

· To provide attended add-value machines for both the LRT and BRT.

Over 85,000 smart cards have been issued to date by SITEUR.

May 2006 –BEA selected to participate in the TechBA program: - BEA Transit Solutions was selected by the Ministry of the Economy of Mexico in May 2006 to participate in the TechBA Program. TechBA is an organization for business development that collaborates with Mexican start-up and well-positioned companies with international business strategies. The program is funded by the Mexican Government to assist promising Mexican high technology companies to grow and develop their businesses in North America.

This endorsement by the Ministry provided clear evidence of BEA’s technological prowess and commercial potential. TechBA in Montreal contracted with Inno-Centre based in Montreal, to make available its extensive technical and marketing resources and support to BEA as well as provide potential access to venture capital.

Inno-Centre is an organization with more than 20 years of experience that has incubated and accelerated more than 150 companies in areas such as telecommunications, information sciences, software development, biotechnology and other high technologies, life sciences, industrial technologies and materials.

February 2006 – Contract with the St. John’s Transportation Commission awarded: Following a competitive tender process, BEA Transit Solutions was awarded a contract by the St. John’s Transportation Commission, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, for the supply, installation and commissioning of a smart card fare collection system for the 54 vehicle Metrobus fleet.

The BEA solution will enable passengers to pay their fares by smart card with period passes, tickets and e-purse as well as pay for other municipal services with a separate municipal e-purse and collect loyalty points based on regular ridership that can be redeemed for value from Metrobus. Ten thousand cards are expected to be distributed. Passengers will be able to reload value on the telephone and by the Internet and in person at attended add-value machines at area merchants as well as Metrobus’ Customer Service Centre. The project is on schedule to go into revenue service on December 1, 2006.

November 2005 – New contract for Grupo BEA from SUBA: After a competitive tender, Grupo BEA was awarded a contract from SUBA in the State of Sonora, Mexico to supply, install and commission a smart card fare collection system for transit authorities operating in 11 cities and at 85 depots across the state. Passengers will load value onto a common state smart card and will be able to pay their fares on any transit system in the state. The BEA system will feature a single clearing house to clear and settle the fares owing to each of the 11 operators. The system will involve 1,500 buses, 25 personalization stations and over 500,000 smart cards. Passengers will be able to reload value onto their smart cards at terminals and depots, at reload agents and at unattended add value machines.
