Add Value Machines
Value can be added to BEA’s reloadable smart cards in several ways, providing transit
systems and customers with great flexibility and choice. Our solutions can be tailored
to match your system’s needs.
Customer Service Terminals
As noted on the Customer Service Terminals page, the BEA system provides these units with the ability to issue and load both disposable and reloadable smart cards in just a few, simple steps.
In the case of reloadable cards, customer verification and account inquiries can also be handled with ease.
Attended Add Value Units
The BEA system provides access for third-parties such as fare agents to the system. Using a standard communications device similar to a credit/debit card unit, allow customers to purchase new smart cards and add value to existing smart cards.
These units store all transactional data and exchange information with the central system using a dial-up connection.
Other Ways of Adding Value to BEA Smart Cards
The BEA system has the flexibility built in to allow for a number of other methods of adding value to reloadable cards.
Unattended Add Value Machines can be used to allow customers to purchase new cards or reload existing cards on the street or at major terminals without the need to staff these units.
Telephone and Internet-based systems allow customers to add value to their cards. This value is recorded by the Central System and then transferred to the card automatically the next time the card is used by the customer.
Subscription systems can be set up that automatically add value to customer cards on a pre-determined basis.
